My OSB Confession: Everyone is Human, and Everyone Gets Scared

I spoke with someone at Open Source Bridge today about my fear of being a good ally. He very kindly asked all the questions you might ask when a near stranger has just admitted fear and I’ll distill my response:

I’m afraid that, regardless of what I try to do, it will be wrong. It’s not that I am not a diversity advocate or partner. It’s that I have a major blindspot for racism already and I just don’t know what I don’t know. That’s not to say I’m paralyzed by the fear… it’s just that I don’t know how to ask for advice or confirmation from the very groups I’m trying to advocate for.

And with that, I leave you with this!
